In July/August 2018, I exhibited portraits of dogs who have passed away at Pinhole Coffee in San Francisco to commemorate, appreciate, and celebrate the life-giving force that our animals share with us.
As part of the opening event, we organized a dog adoption event with Family Dog Rescue and Rocket Dog Rescue, and as a result, two dogs found their forever home, and one dog a foster home.
At the evening reception, we shared laughs and tears of having loved and being loved beyond the limit of human and physical boundaries, which affirmed how their love not only lives on but keeps multiplying.
The exhibit title, “Take the Time to Love,” comes from one of many lessons my late dog Cow Belle (and Pinhole Coffee, where this picture was taken) has taught me then and now. Cow Belle, a proud Muttville alumna, was the inspiration for me to delve back into art, which is why my art business started with the name Cowbelle.Cares.
